Summer is nearing an end, and back to school season is in full swing. As you shop for those notebooks, backpacks, pencils, and the like, be sure to keep in mind that we live in a digital world where students are expected to become comfortable with technology. Homework now involves the Internet and the usage of tablets and laptops to get the job done. When moving those items around, it’a always good to have a backup, even in the age of cloud storage. Kingston’s DataTraveler 200 can handle up to 128GB of flash memory. The company’s Andrew Ewing says it can hold an entire library of music, photos and videos, not to mention large databases. The DT2000 has password protection and needs no administrations rights. Choose between a 32GB for $120.00, 64GB for $213.00 and the humongous 128GB at a price of $546.00.

Tectoy Zeebo 3G Game System

Zeebo is a new gaming console from Tectoy that can maintain a constant connection via a 3G network. Meant for countries who cannot afford a pricier system, it will run on a BREW-based OS, with an ARM CPU (528MHz,) a Qualcomm Adreno 130 graphics core, 1GB NAND flash memory, 160MB RAM, 128MB DDR SDRAM and 32MB DDR SDRAM. Although the connection is a freebie the games will not be, with prices ranging from about $3.00 to $13.00. The first Zeebos come preloaded with Quake, Action Hero 3D and Evil Prey at a price in the mid $200.00 range and will be out in Brazil this July.

Canon FS200 Flash Memory Camcorder

Canon’s latest flash memory camcorder will be making its debut at the soon to be CES 2009. The FS200, available in silver, wine or blue, features the company’s Quick Charge, which reduces battery charging time, 41X advanced zoom, a DIGIC DV II Image Processor and a 680k CCD image sensor. It also has a 2.7-inch widescreen LCD, image stabilization, and mic and headphone jack. While no price is available as yet, look for the Canon FS200 to come out sometime this month.

Many companies showed of Solid State Disks (SSD) at CES, but none so cost effectively as Sandisk. As usual Sandisk is bringing a product to market that beats the price of it’s competitors while still not skimping on features. SSD drives are an effective way to increase performance and battery life on notebooks without requiring re-engineering. Available now in a variety of capacities and price points - look for them in stores or devices soon.
